Wills

An individual’s “will”  or “last will and testament” is an instrument created during a person’s life that determines who inherits that person’s property after he or she dies.

A proper will should designate “who gets my stuff when I die” and who you would like to act as the administrator (“executor”) of your estate. Putting a will in place helps ensure that the people you want to administer and receive your “stuff” after you die is clear. Your will should be drafted in accordance with North Carolina laws to ensure that your will can be properly probated after you die.
